Makes an appropriation for the condemnation of land in Nanakuli for public housing project. (SD1)

A BILL FOR AN ACT

SECTION 1. Leeward Land LLC owns a parcel of real property in Nanakuli, Oahu, comprised of one hundred seventy-two acres, commonly known as the Nanakuli B site. The legislature finds that the parcel is suitable and desirable for the development of a public housing project. The legislature further finds that the condemnation of the parcel for a public housing project is for a public purpose.

SECTION 2. The Hawaii public housing administration is directed to commence eminent domain proceedings, pursuant to section 201G-16, for the condemnation of the Nanakuli B site for a public housing project.

SECTION 3. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $          , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007, for the condemnation of the Nanakuli B site, TMK:       , comprising of one hundred seventy-two acres, more or less, for a public housing project.

SECTION 4. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the Hawaii public housing administration for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 5. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2050.
