A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to homeless services.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 346, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§346-    Temporary assistance for needy families; surplus. The department of human services shall allocate annually a minimum of twenty per cent of any surplus moneys from the temporary assistance for needy families program to homeless services programs under part IV of chapter 201G, including permanent supportive housing services, outreach, prevention, intake and referral, and homeless management information systems. The director shall transfer the allocated surplus amount, if any, to the housing and community development corporation of Hawaii annually no later than July 15 of each year for the purposes of this section."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
