Requires office of elections to prepare a sample ballot to be mailed to each registered voter 21 days prior to an election. Requires sample ballots to include description of all ballot measures.

A BILL FOR AN ACT

SECTION 1. Chapter 11, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§11-A Sample ballots. (a) The office of elections shall prepare a sample ballot to be mailed to each registered voter during an election year twenty-one days prior to an election.

(b) The sample ballot shall be identical to the ballot used during an election, except for any marks or identification the office of elections deems necessary to state the ballot is a sample for educational purposes only and not for official use. The sample ballot shall include a description of all ballot measures."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
