A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to hepatitis.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $1, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2005-2006 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007 to hire one case manager to:

(1) Facilitate referral to and acceptance of individuals with viral hepatitis for medical coverage, housing, and ongoing counseling; and

(2) Collect data on the population served.

The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of health for the purposes of this Act; provided that the department may contract with a private entity for the case manager services; and provided further that the department shall submit a written report, detailing the outcome of the department's efforts to assist persons with viral hepatitis, to the legislature and the governor at least twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2007.

SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2005.
