A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to homeless shelters.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Section 201G-464, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to amend subsection (b) to read as follows:
"(b) The corporation may make or may contract to make homeless shelter stipend payments on behalf of one or more homeless families or individuals to a provider agency operating or managing an emergency or transitional shelter or, in the case that the corporation itself operates and manages a homeless facility, to the corporation in such amounts and under such circumstances as provided by rule[.]; provided however that shelter stipends received by a provider agency pursuant to a contract shall fully reimburse the provider agency for all the costs it incurs under the contract with the corporation. The contract may specify a minimum total amount of homeless shelter stipends to be received by a provider agency for making its shelter and services available to eligible homeless families or individuals, pursuant to rule."
SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
