The following bills have been added to the agenda:

SB 917

RELATING TO THE COMMISSION ON WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT.

Requires the governor to appoint one member of the commission on water resource management from a list of three nominees submitted by the office of Hawaiian affairs.

RELATING TO COASTAL ZONE MANAGEMENT.

Requires the governor to appoint 1 member of the public advisory body for coastal zone management from a list of 3 nominees submitted by the office of Hawaiian affairs.

RELATING TO ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION.

Increases the conveyance tax and the amount of revenues paid into the general fund, rental housing trust fund, and the natural area reserve fund. Also provides a stable funding mechanism for the natural area reserves system.

RELATING TO THE BOARD OF LAND AND NATURAL RESOURCES.

Requires the governor to appoint 1 member of the board of land and natural resources from a list of 3 nominees submitted by the office of Hawaiian affairs.

RELATING TO THE LAND USE COMMISSION.

Requires the governor to appoint 1 member of the land use commission from a list of 3 nominees submitted by the office of Hawaiian affairs.

RELATING TO LAND CONSERVATION.

Requires 25% of real estate conveyance tax collected be deposited into the land conservation fund. Allows grants to state agencies, counties, and nonprofit land conservation organizations to acquire interest in lands having a value as a resource to the State.

Persons wishing to testify should submit 25 copies of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 213, State Capitol, 24 hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. When faxing, please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.
