RELATING TO STATE FUNDS.

Proposed draft transfers the functions, authority, and employee positions of the Department of Public Safety relating to uniformed security employees and security contracts for the health facilities of the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation to HHSC.

RELATING TO TAXATION.

Proposed draft establishes a method by which to tax electronic commerce. Directs the Department of Taxation to make recommendations on how to amend existing general excise tax to conform with the model streamlined sales and use tax agreement.

RELATING TO TAXATION.

Proposed draft increases tax per cigarette to 9 cents after 6/30/2006, 11 cents after 6/30/2007, and 13 cents after 6/30/2008. Earmarks 25%, 25%, and 50% of tax for general fund, DOH health promotion and disease prevention programs, and the Hawaii tobacco prevention and control trust fund, respectively.

When faxing, please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.
