The size of the video game industry is $25 billion a year, and the size of the film industry in the United States is estimated to be about $20 billion. The University of Hawaii’s Academy for Creative Media, headed by Chris Lee, concentrates on exposing students to new and growing industries of digital media and gaming; with an emphasis on creating new businesses in these fields in Hawaii. The panelists will cover digital media, film/TV production and digital game production. The purpose of this informational briefing is to highlight new programs, emerging technologies, and the linkages necessary to advance Hawaii's film and media industry including the growing digital gaming segment.
