Life sciences – also called biosciences – is a multi-million dollar industry in research, development, and commercialization of a broad range of drugs and medical devices. The opening of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine in Kakaako has drawn attention to Hawaii's emerging life sciences sector and created new opportunities for diversification of the State's economy. This briefing will focus on how Hawaii is meeting the challenges of expanding the industry – from the newly formed Hawaii Life Sciences Council to the world-renowned work of some of Hawaii's premier bioscience businesses.
Overview/Industry Opportunities:
Mike Fitzgerald, President and CEO, Enterprise Honolulu
Lisa Gibson, President, Life Sciences Council
Jana Hall, Vice President, Research, Hawaii Pacific Health
