Ka Hale A Ke Ola |
The purpose of this informational briefing is to brief the members and the public about the Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Shelter on Maui. Its mission is to serve the needs of the homeless and hungry on Maui by providing emergency food and housing, to voice their concerns, to empower them to take responsibility for their own lives and to call on the community to assist in these actions.
Ka Hale A Ke Ola provides the following services to the homeless on Maui: emergency shelter services, transitional housing, Life Skills classes, a Substance Abuse Component, day care, a primary care medical clinic, a job training program, a Family Intergenerational Literacy Program and the ability to move to affordable, safe housing at the Hale Makana O Waiale affordable rental project. Ka Hale A Ke Ola's success has drawn national attention. Charlie Ridings, its Executive Director, will be sharing his insights on this model homeless shelter.
If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids and/or services to participate in the public hearing process of the state house (i.e., sign language interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled), please contact the committee clerk at least 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made.
For further information, please call the committee clerk at 586-8552.
NO TESTIMONY WILL BE ACCEPTED
