RELATING TO RURAL HEALTH CARE.

Establishes the Hawaii Health Corps Program to provide health care to underserved areas of the state.

RELATING TO INVOLUNTARY PSYCHIATRIC TREATMENT.

Authorizes DOH to adopt rules to establish an administrative process allowing involuntary medication of psychiatric patients institutionalized at the Hawaii state-operated or funded psychiatric facility in order to alleviate mental illness and restore competency while protecting the rights of patients.

RELATING TO DENTISTS.

Authorizes the licensure of dental specialists who are licensed in another state with licensing standards at least equivalent to Hawaii's standards.

RELATING TO THE LICENSING OF DENTAL HYGIENISTS.

Authorizes the board of dental examiners to grant licenses without examination to dental hygienists who are already licensed in other states.

RELATING TO THE BOARD OF DENTAL EXAMINERS EXAMINATIONS.

Requires the board of dental examiners to accept the results of regional examinations for the licensure of dental hygienists and dentists. Requires that the national examination will supersede the regional examinations.

RELATING TO DENTAL INSURANCE.

Extends the sunset date of Act 132, SLH 2001, as amended, that exempt dental service corporations and dental service organizations from health insurer assessments.

RELATING TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

Changes name of department of health's domestic violence prevention special fund to domestic violence and sexual assault special fund. Allocates a percentage of the fund for domestic violence and for sexual assault services and programs. Requires a report to the legislature on expenses and improvements that can be made and on a strategic plan to improve support services.
