RELATING TO TOBACCO. PROPOSED HD3: Requires businesses engaged in the sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products at the retail level to obtain a retail tobacco permit from the Department of Taxation. Appropriates revenues from retail tobacco permit fees to the John A. Burns School of Medicine and the Children's Health Insurance Program of the Department of Human Services. Provides criminal penalties for the retail sale of cigarettes or other tobacco products without a valid retail tobacco permit, and allows for seizure and forfeiture of cigarettes and other tobacco products sold, possessed, stored, acquired, distributed, or transported without a valid retail tobacco permit. |
