The Legislature authorized the Integrated Tax Information System (ITIMS) special fund within the Department of Taxation (DoTAX) to provide a funding source that allowed DoTAX to execute a performance based contract to implement ITIMS utilizing "enhanced" revenues. The Department will brief the Committee on operational and personnel efficiencies realized by the system thus far.

The Information and Communication Services Division (ICSD) of the Department of Accounting and General Services is tasked with the responsibility to "enable state agencies to improve the management, operation, and efficiency of their programs by enhancing computer and telecommunications capabilities, technical advice, and related consultation services provided to them". ICSD will brief the Committee on its role as DoTAX makes the transition from its private contract.

One of the keys to DoTAX's ability to enter into its unique performance based contract is the fact that its primary mission is to collect taxes. Recognizing that few other agencies have the same revenue generating responsibility or ability, DAGS will also comment on any lessons learned during ITIMS implementation that could assist other agencies with their technology needs.

IF YOU REQUIRE SPECIAL ASSISTANCE OR AUXILIARY AIDS AND/OR SERVICES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL BRIEFING PROCESS OF THE STATE HOUSE (I.E., SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER, WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY, OR PARKING DESIGNATED FOR THE DISABLED), PLEASE CONTACT THE COMMITTEE CLERK AT 586-6200 AT LEAST 24 HOURS PRIOR TO THE HEARING SO ARRANGEMENTS CAN BE MADE.
