RELATING TO TRUANCY.

Establishes a daytime curfew for students.

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Allows non-public school students to participate on an equal basis in any extracurricular or interscholastic activities offered by a public school in the geographic area in which the student resides. Requires non-public school students to pay applicable activity participation fees.

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Establishes a grant program in the department of education to develop K-12 lesson plans, curriculum, and other educational materials for civic responsibility. Appropriates funds to DOE for social studies textbooks to support civic responsibility, science textbooks, and to the grant program.

RELATING TO AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS.

Establishes an after-school activities program coordinator position in the department of education and establishes a task force to review and recommend improvements to the State's after-school activities programs. Appropriate funds.

RELATING TO SPECIAL EDUCATION.

Establishes the office of the public advocate for Felix class children enrolled in the public school system. Requires the board of education to establish the office's powers and duties. Allows the board to retain legal services for the office.

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Requires the department of education to staff qualified pre-school teachers and pre-school teacher aides in junior kindergartens beginning with the 2007-2008 school year.
