RELATING TO CHARTER SCHOOLS

Allows charter school employees to participate in the State's workers' compensation system.

SB 1782

RELATING TO NEW CENTURY CHARTER SCHOOLS

Requires the State to provide workers' compensation coverage to new century charter school and new century conversion charter school employees. Clarifies that employees of new century conversion charter schools and new century charter schools shall retain civil service status and all related benefits, including accrual of creditable service under the ERS.

This hearing will go into recess subject to the call of the Chair and/or Chairs at approximately 1:55 p.m. to enable members of the committee to attend the joint Senate-House informational briefing on the audit of Na Wai Ola Waters of Life Charter School to be held in room 309, State Capitol. The Chair and/or Chairs will call this hearing back to order upon the conclusion of the informational briefing.

Decision making to follow, if time permits.

Persons wishing to testify on EDM/LBR bills should submit 60 copies of their testimony to the committee clerk, room 230, State Capitol, 24 hours prior to the hearing. It is also requested that the copies be on one side of an 8.5" x 11" sheet with two holes punched at the top. Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. When faxing, please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled) please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made.

Public Folder. A folder labeled "Public Folder" containing the measures and testimonies for the hearing will be available for shared use by members of the public.
