WHEREAS, CLYDE HASHIMOTO, exemplifies the passion, dedication, and highest standards of excellence in the truest spirit of Hawaii, as evident in his outstanding twenty-two year career in teaching Hawaii's keiki; and

WHEREAS, for the past 15 years, CLYDE HASHIMOTO has dedicated himself to his third-grade class at Kalaheo Elementary School on Kauai, where he gained the recognition and respect of his fellow educators, resulting in the nomination for, and award of, the prestigious Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award; and

WHEREAS, The Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award provides public recognition and a $25,000 award to elementary and secondary school-teachers to recognize their achievements and to encourage their continued pursuits in teaching; and

WHEREAS, CLYDE HASHIMOTO exhibits a noble devotion to his profession by offering strong leadership and professionalism as a member of the school’s Positive Behavior Support and Standards Implementation Design committees; and

WHEREAS, CLYDE HASHIMOTO motivates and engages students in exciting, significant, and relevant instruction by presenting inspiring standards-based lessons that integrate science, math, language arts, Hawaiian history, and fine arts in units such as the "Taro Farm Experience" and "Octopus Drying;" and

WHEREAS, in his selfless commitment to improve the quality of education provided to Hawaii's children, CLYDE HASHIMOTO devotedly tutors students after school and provides exceptional support for troubled or special needs students; and

WHEREAS, because of his love for children and devotion to education CLYDE HASHIMOTO’s students excel academically and socially, with his students achieving scores above the state average on the Hawaii State Assessment for the past two years; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-third Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2005, that this body commends and honors CLYDE HASHIMOTO for his outstanding accomplishments in education and dedicated service to the children of Hawaii, and extends to him its warmest Aloha and best wishes for continued success in all his future endeavors.
