WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii takes great pride in recognizing and honoring those extraordinary individuals who have selflessly and faithfully served and enriched their community and disseminated friendship and goodwill to the people of the world; and

WHEREAS, GOVERNOR FERDINAND MARCOS JR., has led the people of his community, serving as an outstanding example of academic excellence earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University, England; and a Master of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, becoming one of Batac, Ilocos Norte's greatest sources of pride, second only to his father, President Ferdinand Marcos; and

WHEREAS, GOVERNOR FERDINAND MARCOS JR. has distinguished himself through an illustrious career of service to his community and government as the Vice-Governor of Ilocos Norte from 1980 to 1983, as a Congressman of the Second District of Ilocos Norte from 1992 to 1995, and two terms as Governor of Ilocos Norte from 1983 to 1986, and again from 1998 to the present day, while concurrently shouldering many other leadership roles in a wide variety of organizations, and always upholding the responsibility of being an ambassador of goodwill to all; and

WHEREAS, GOVERNOR FERDINAND MARCOS JR. was instrumental in establishing state-province relations of friendship between the State of Hawaii of the United States of America and the Province of Ilocos Norte of the Republic of the Philippines expanding and strengthening international ties by developing goodwill, friendship, and a financial and educational bridge between ethnic Filipinos in Hawaii and their relatives living in Asian and Pacific countries; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-third Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2005, that this body hereby recognizes, honors, and congratulates GOVERNOR FERDINAND MARCOS, JR. for his accomplishments and extends to him its warmest aloha, mabuhay and best wishes for continued strengthening of relations and success.
