HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

request the Office of planning to conduct a review of classification and districting of lands in house district 17 (Hawaii kai).

 

 

WHEREAS, section 205-18 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes directs the Office of Planning to conduct a review of classification and districting of all lands in the state every five years; and

WHEREAS, the last such review was completed in 1992; and

WHEREAS, boundary reviews are an integral component of the Hawaii state plan, county general plans, and county development and community plans; and

WHEREAS, boundary reviews are a critical factor in land use decisions and vital to the proficient operations of the Land Use Commissions; and

WHEREAS, extensive growth in the Kamilonui Valley region of Hawaii Kai has resulted in development creeping over existing boundary lines;

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-third Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2005, the Senate concurring, requests the Office of Planning to conduct a statewide boundary review; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that boundary review shall be reported to the legislature no later than 20 days prior to the opening of the Regular Session of 2006.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the executive director of the Land Use Commission.
