RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL.

Streamlines the administration of the litigation deposits trust fund. Allows the attorney general to retain and deposit into the litigation deposits trust fund 33% of any recovery from any civil action or settlement of a civil claim. (SD1)

RELATING TO TAX ADMINISTRATION.

Allows the department of taxation to impose civil penalties and injunctions on tax return preparers who support unrealistic positions on tax returns and on promoters of abusive tax shelters. (SB2989 SD2)

RELATING TO THE USE TAX.

Clarifies when a seller is subject to the 0.5 per cent use tax; restores the imposition of taxes on goods purchased both within and outside the State; clarifies that the use tax applies to sellers who acquire goods from outside the State and import the product for resale in the State. (SD1)

RELATING TO COMMERCIAL DRIVER LICENSING.

Revises standards, requirements and penalties, makes improvements to the commercial driver's license program, and imposes a disqualification on CDL drivers who have been convicted of traffic offenses while operating a noncommercial motor vehicle. (SD2)

Adds to the offenses for which an offender must pay the drug demand reduction assessment used to fund drug treatment. Amends priority of payment to require payment of restitution, probation fees, and crime victim compensation fees before assessment. Places burden on offender to show inability to pay. (SD1)
