SCHOOL GOVERNANCE AND WEIGHTED STUDENT FORMULA

 

The purpose of this meeting is to provide opportunities for proponents of various changes in school governance to suggest ways to improve the decision making process with the shifting of the administration and use of funds to principals and schools.

The legislature is currently pursuing giving principals and schools control of a significant amount of operating funds. Weighted Student Formula is geared to re-inventing our public education system by transferring increased authority to principals.

Based on the proposal of shifting increased budgeting and spending authority directly to the school, the following areas will be addressed:

1. Identify which option or series of options you prefer.

2. Describe the ways in which the change would:

a. Improve student achievement by reducing and/or eliminating barriers.

b. Improving student achievement by increasing opportunities for students.
