RELATING TO MEDICINE AND SURGERY.

Allows medical licensure of persons serving a residency in a program approved by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the College of Family Physicians of Canada or in a program outside the U.S. or Canada approved by the Board of Medical Examiners; allows licensure without further examination for persons who have completed educational and residency requirements and passed the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination. RELATING TO HOSPITALS.

Amends certificate of need law to provide that for an existing hospital, a certificate of need or exemption from a certificate of need is not required until the hospital applies for a building permit. (HB2539 HD2)

RELATING TO THE LICENSING REQUIREMENTS FOR ELEVATOR MECHANICS.

Aligns training requirements for licensure of elevator mechanics with federal and state apprenticeship standards by increasing licensing requirements from 2 to 4 years.

RELATING TO DENTAL PROFESSIONAL LICENSING.

Creates a special community service license for dentists and dental hygienists working in federally qualified health centers or Native Hawaiian Health System sites. (SD1)

RELATING TO DENTAL INSURANCE.

Delays the repeal of Act 132, SLH 2001, as amended by Act 219, SLH 2002, and Act 128, and allows the Insurance Division to continue liquidation efforts in the Hawaii Dental Health Plan cax.

When faxing, please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.
