RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE INSURANCE.

Shortens, from 30 to 15 days, the notice period and time that a motor vehicle insurer must continue coverage when an insured fails to pay a premium; permits the insurer to cancel a policy within 60 days of issuance, provided cancellation is not based on prohibited discrimination (HB1820 HD1).

RELATING TO MORTGAGE BROKERS AND SOLICITORS.

With regard to mortgage broker and solicitor licensing, allows experience as a licensed insurance producer to substitute for experience in mortgage financing transactions where the licensed insurance producer only arranges mortgage loans with an insured depository institution, as defined in 12 U.S.C. section 1813(c)(2), that is a wholly-owned subsidiary of an insurer, or an affiliate of an insurer with which the insurance producer has an exclusive insurance agency relationship. RELATING TO REAL ESTATE LICENSING.

Allows the Real Estate Commission to enter into formal license recognition agreements with other states and jurisdictions recognized by the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials.

RELATING TO ABANDONED APPLICATIONS FOR PROFESSIONAL AND VOCATIONAL LICENSES.

Clarifies that licensing application will be considered abandoned if it is not completed and the required documents and other information are not submitted to DCCA within 2 years from the last date documents or information were requested or submitted.

RELATING TO COSMETOLOGY LICENSE RESTORATION.

Allows the restoration of a cosmetology license beyond the current 3 year period, provided that the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology considers and approves of the restoration.

Requires all licensed plumbers to attend continuing education courses related to updates of the Uniform Plumbing Code.

RELATING TO INSURANCE.

Amends the standard nonforfeiture law for individual deferred annuity contracts by extending for 2 years the 1.5% interest rate for determining the minimum nonforfeiture amount; establishes an indexed rate with a maximum of 3% and minimum of 1% to be phased in during the 2 years and used exclusively thereafter. Amends current law to offer same protection from creditor claims to Roth IRA's as exist for regular IRA's.

RELATING TO MANDATORY CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR PHARMACISTS.

Establishes pharmacist license renewal requirement of 30 continuing education credit hours, beginning with renewals for the renewal period ending on 12/31/07. (HB2140 HD1)

RELATING TO PUBLIC BENEFIT CORPORATIONS.

Provides the Attorney General with greater supervision of non-profit corporations that are organized for charitable, religious, or educational purposes, including authority to seek removal of a director of the public benefit corporation for a breach of fiduciary duties and requiring notices to the AG of mergers or the sale of substantially all the assets of a public benefit corporation, and other proceedings (HB2363 HD1).

RELATING TO THE LANDLORD TENANT CODE.

Amends the Landlord Tenant Code by specifying that a tenant's unlawful possession of any dangerous, harmful or detrimental drug is an improper use of the premises; also prohibits permitting a guest or visitor to possess any dangerous, harmful or detrimental drug; authorizes the landlord to respond to prohibited drug possession by bringing a summary possession action.
