RELATING TO PARKING FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES. Amends various definitions within the Hawaii Revised Statutes relating to parking for persons with disabilities, to include "vascular" as a qualifying condition, to include access aisles as part of parking spaces for persons with disabilities, and to repeal language contained in administrative rules; authorizes replacement of stolen placards through the same procedure as replacement of lost or mutilated placards; clarifies that parking privileges for persons with disabilities apply to public spaces only, and not private spaces; lowers the penalty for failure to display the proper permit or identification card; provides penalties for illegally parking in an access aisle adjacent to a parking space for a person with a disability. |

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW, IF TIME PERMITS.
Persons wishing to testify should submit 25 copies per bill of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 230, State Capitol during regular business hours, or outside the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Office, Room 015, State Capitol for all other times, 24 hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. When faxing, please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.
If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled) please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made.
