SB 1242

RELATING TO FAIR ACCESS FOR STATE GOVERNMENT.

Requires the governor and legislature to ensure fair public access to information, services, and proceedings of the executive and legislative branches. Authorizes the governor to appoint a fair access commission. Charges the commission and the joint legislative access committee with reviewing and evaluating government access by neighbor island and rural Oahu residents, and making recommendations for its improvement.

SB 1608

RELATING TO PUBLIC ACCESS.

Establishes the Legislative Reference Bureau as the legislature's educational and community outreach agency, with responsibility for the public access room, information and education program, and legislative broadcast program (LBP); repeals the chapter on public access; transfers to LRB funds appropriated to LBP.

SB 1501

RELATING TO PUBLIC, EDUCATION, AND GOVERNMENT ACCESS ORGANIZATIONS.

Requires the establishment of an infrastructure and programming plan for the public, access, and education (PEG) access organizations. Establishes special fund.
