RELATING TO UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS.

Encourages eligible claimants of unemployment insurance to seek gainful employment by permitting claimants to receive their weekly benefit amount without regard to earnings received from employment. (HB968 HD1)

RELATING TO PUBLIC EMPLOYEES.

Sets forth leave of absence provisions for permanent full-time employees of the State or one of its political subdivisions who are exempt from chapters 76 and 89, but are not considered to be an "excluded employee" as defined in section 89C-1.5.

RELATING TO PUBLIC EMPLOYEES.

Provides that a public employee who has been convicted of a felony for conduct in violation of the employee's duties, shall be terminated upon conviction. Provides for restitution should the conviction be overturned and the employee is not otherwise terminated in accordance with law. (HB287 HD3)

RELATING TO DEATH BENEFITS OF SURVIVING CHILDREN OF PUBLIC EMPLOYEES.

Allows surviving dependent children to receive ERS death benefits after age 18 and until age 24 while a full-time student, or when the child becomes a full-time student, so long as the child remains a full-time student. (HB986 HD2)

RELATING TO PUBLIC OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES AND EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES.

Requires department of human resources development to retain records of public employee positions, wages, and demographic characteristics, and report to the legislature on possible gender discrimination; establishes a commission to review the reports and other data and develop recommendations to correct gender-based pay inequities for the 2004 legislature. (HB132 HD1)
