RELATING TO PRESCRIPTION DRUG COST CONTAINMENT AND AFFORDABLE ACCESS

Requires pharmaceutical manufacturing companies to disclose to the board of pharmacy the value, nature and purpose of any gift, payment or other economic benefit worth $25 or more provided with promotional or other marketing activities to physicians, hospitals, nursing homes and pharmacists. RELATING TO MANDATORY HEALTH COVERAGE FOR EXAMINATION FOR SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES

Mandates coverage of examination for sexually transmitted diseases for all policies and contracts, hospital and medical service plan contracts, medical service corporation contracts and HMO plans and contracts issued after 12/31/2003. Effective 7/1/2003. (LEE)

RELATING TO EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS

Allows an emergency medical technician to receive a state retirement pension after ten years of service – five years prior to retirement were served as an emergency medical technician – after June 30, 2003. Clarifies that after twenty-five years of service, the emergency medical technician's pension shall not be reduced. (M. OSHIRO)
