The following measure is added to the agenda. In addition, the contents of the measure will be DELETED and the measure will be used as a vehicle to insert languages relating to textbook purchasing, partnering with other organizations or jurisdictions, deposit fees for students, allowing parents to purchase textbooks for home use, and other matters relating to textbooks. Copies of the SD1 will be available in room 213 and on the legislative webbsite: www.capitol.hawaii.gov.

RELATING TO EDUCATION. Requires a child to be at least 5 years old on or before 12/31 of the school year in order to attend kindergarten, regardless of when the school convenes. Changes minimum age requirement for kindergarten entrance to October 1 for 2006-2007 school year and July 1 for 2007-2008 school year. |

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW, IF TIME PERMITS.
Persons wishing to testify should submit 30 copies of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 213, State Capitol during regular business hours, or outside the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Office, Room 015, State Capitol for all other times, 24 hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. When faxing, please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.
If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled) please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made.
Public Folder. A folder labeled "Public Folder" containing the measures and testimonies for the hearing will be available for shared use by members of the public.
