MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE "PROJECT EAST" INITIATIVE IN HAWAII PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

Appropriates funds in fiscal year 2003-2004 for the "Project EAST" initiative to be implemented in Hawaii schools. (Baker)

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Requires development and implementation of systemwide information technology plan to assure student proficiency; requires implementation of recruitment and retention program for hard-to-fill teacher positions; requires implementation of a systemwide school administrator training academy in partnership with business community; requires establishment of rewards and assistance program for individuals, individual schools and school complexes who meet performance goals or fail to achieve performance goals. If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled) please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made.
