EDUCATION REFORM FOCUS GROUPS
The purpose of the informational briefing is to summarize and discuss the results of the Education Reform Focus Groups selected findings and proposed actions for improvements to our public schools. Members of the focus groups, the Department of Education, and other agencies, as appropriate, are invited to participate and/or submit written comments relating to the acceptance, potential impacts, and recommendations for implementation. Written comments (20 copies) should be delivered to the office of Senator Norman Sakamoto, room no. 213 or fax to 586-8588 within 24 hours of the briefing. The informational briefings by the Focus Groups will be presented in two separate sessions:
DECEMBER 11, 2002, (WEDNESDAY) 1 TO 3:30 PM
EDUCATION FINANCE (Linking resources to performance goals/students outcome)
QUALITY TEACHING/SCHOOLS (Determine best practice services to support quality schools)
DECEMBER 13, 2002, (FRIDAY) 1 TO 3:30 PM
COMMUNITY COLLABORATION (Role of the community to support public education)
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES (What authorities and resources education stakeholders should have to ensure student achievements)
If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled) please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made.
