RELATING TO INDEPENDENT MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS.

Requires all examinations conducted during the course of an accepted workers' compensation claim, including those where the employer is dissatisfied with the progress of the case and where major elective surgery is contemplated, except examinations requested by an employer pursuant to an investigation of a claim before compensability is accepted or ordered by the department, the appeals board, or appellate court to be performed by a physician selected by mutual agreement of the parties, or if no agreement, by a physician appointed by the director of the department of labor and industrial relations. RELATING TO THE DEFINITION OF "MEDICAL CARE" UNDER WORKERS' COMPENSATION LAW.

Amends the definition of "medical care", "medical services", or "medical supplies" in workers' compensation law to include services provided by occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants; replaces reference to "masseur" with "licensed massage therapist". (SD1)

RELATING TO INSURANCE.

Requires insurance reimbursements for services provided by physician nutrition specialists to be commensurate with reimbursements for services provided by other board certified physician specialists.
