HOUSE RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING CASTLE HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY FOOTBALL TEAM AND COACH NELSON MAEDA ON THEIR EXCITING TRIUMPH IN WINNING THE 2002 OAHU INTERSCHOLASTIC ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIP.

 

WHEREAS, Hawaii's high school athletic coaches are role models and guardians of Hawaii's youth, undertaking great responsibility and commitment to cultivate, nurture, and develop our State's most precious asset: the immeasurable potential of its youth; and

WHEREAS, COACH NELSON MAEDA, State Coach of the Year, has devoted much professional and personal time, effort, and talent in building the athletic abilities, sportsmanlike conduct, and team spirit of the CASTLE HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY FOOTBALL TEAM; and

WHEREAS, COACH MAEDA has long been recognized by his peers as the best in the business; and

WHEREAS, armed with the "small man can" attitude, the CASTLE HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY FOOTBALL TEAM claimed the OAHU INTERSCHOLASTIC ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP on November 15, 2002, and finished one win shy of the Hawaii High School Athletic Association Football Championship; and

WHEREAS, the enormous accomplishment of the CASTLE HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY FOOTBALL TEAM, is testament to the confidence and self-assurance COACH MAEDA and his coaching staff instilled in their players; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2003, that this body hereby congratulates and commends COACH NELSON MAEDA and the CASTLE HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY FOOTBALL TEAM on winning the 2002 Oahu Interscholastic Association Football Championship, and extends to them its warmest aloha and best wishes for their continued success.
