WHEREAS, the people of the state of Hawaii are proud to recognize those special individuals who utilize their God-given talents and bring pride to the community and embody the aloha spirit and good will of Hawaii to the people of the world; and

WHEREAS, JORDAN SEGUNDO exemplifies the tremendous beneficial impact one person's talent may have on the lives of countless others by providing an example of talent, determination, and perseverance to overcome incredible odds to achieve success; and

WHEREAS, beginning at the tender age of three Jordan Segundo first displayed his remarkable musical talent by performing for his family and has over the next fifteen years displayed a willingness to continue sharing his talent to benefit and entertain the community whenever asked; and

WHEREAS, Jordan Segundo was recently selected over 70,000 contestants as one of 32 semifinalists on "American Idol," a popular TV show that reaches millions of viewers across the country; and

WHEREAS, during his appearances on "American Idol" Jordan Segundo won a loyal following of local and national audiences for the quality of his voice, his charmingly shy presence, and his obvious kind and caring personality; and

WHEREAS, Jordan Segundo's demeanor and success also brings special pride and spirit to all his neighbors and friends in Kalihi, to the students, faculty and staff at Farrington High School, his fellow employees at Jamba Juice, and most especially to his mother and family; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2003, that this body hereby commends and applauds the achievements of Jordan Segundo, and extends to him and his family its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success in truly becoming the country's next singing star and American Idol.
