HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

congratulating the hawaii children's trust fund on its tenth anniversary.

 

 

WHEREAS, the people and State of Hawaii cherish the promise of all children as the foundation of a successful society and hold among our highest priorities the prevention and treatment of childhood neglect and abuse the signature of a caring community; and

WHEREAS, in 1993 the Hawaii State Legislature established the HAWAII CHILDREN'S TRUST FUND as a formal mechanism to build and administer a public-private partnership of funds and resources to develop policies, strategies, and a statewide plan to prevent child abuse and neglect and to promote a safe, healthy and nurturing childhood for all na keiki Hawai`i; and

WHEREAS, since its inception, HAWAII CHILDREN'S TRUST FUND has successfully worked to build and maintain a system of services, laws, practices, and attitudes that prevent child abuse through the award of more than $3 million to thirty-six programs affecting more than 6,000 children and 13,000 families statewide, and has funded the creation of four public awareness campaigns that reached more than 1.5 million people; and

WHEREAS, HAWAII CHILDREN'S TRUST FUND celebrates the Tenth Anniversary of its founding by continuing to provide support for effective abuse prevention programs that strengthen families and protect children from harm, helping them to achieve their full potential to lead lives of meaning, independence, and accomplishment; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2003, that this body hereby extends its heartfelt appreciation, congratulations, and aloha to the members and staff of the HAWAII CHILDREN'S TRUST FUND, the Hawaii Children's Trust Fund Coalition, and its Advisory Board on the occasion of their Tenth Anniversary for making Hawaii a safer and happier place for children.
