A BILL FOR AN ACT
making an appropriation to the medicaid prescription drug rebate special fund.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $500,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2003-2004 for deposit into the medicaid prescription drug rebate special fund to carry out the purposes of section 346-59.8(c), Hawaii Revised Statutes, including the development of a waiver and activities associated with securing approval for the waiver from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for the expansion of prescription drug benefits under the medicaid program.
The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of human services for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2003.
