Clarifies that section 171-13, will be reinstated in its original form at the sunset of Act 15, Third Special Session Laws of Hawaii 2001, which authorizes the Governor to declare an economic emergency from September 11, 2001 to April 30, 2002, to suspend any statute, rule or order and adopt rules to implement certain measures, and to suspend, waive, or defer any contract obligations under certain conditions. |

RELATING TO THE COLLECTION OF TAXES. Assists in the collection of taxes by: (1) expanding DOTAX's current authority to ascertain the fair market value (FMV) if sales of products or services between affiliated companies or persons when the consideration paid is not indicative of the FMV of sales of products or services and all taxes; (2) providing a continuous levy on the salary or wages of a delinquent taxpayer; (3) indemnifying a person from third parties when the person honors a state tax levy; and (4) expanding the authority for recovering unpaid withholding taxes. DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW, IF TIME PERMITS.
Persons wishing to testify should submit 35 copies of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 210, State Capitol 24 hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. When faxing, please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.
