The purpose of this briefing is to allow the Hawaii Beverage Industry Coalition to present its privately funded study and implementation plan as an alternative to HB 1256 Relating to Solid Waste Management, which establishes a beverage container deposit and redemption system to assist in the waste stream diversion and increase the recycling rates of beverage containers.
The Department of Health Solid Waste Division and representatives from each County will be available to discuss the study and its findings.
