Act 178/1999 created a special advisor for technology development and a special advisory council for technology development within the Office of the Governor. Act 178/1999 also appropriated $100,000 for FY 2000 and FY 2001 to support the purposes of the Act.
The Governor’s 2001-2003 fiscal biennium budget request proposes to consolidate within the Office of the Governor, 35.2 positions for FY 2002 and 37.2 positions for FY 2003 to support the intent of Act 178/1999. The request, including the consolidation of general fund technology requests for all agencies is $24,944,666 and $23,977,362 respectively. In addition, the Governor is requesting $125,000 per fiscal year for technology development marketing and $100,000 per fiscal year for the special advisor for technology development.
The Governor’s special advisor for technology development will detail for the Committee, accomplishments to date of the implementation of Act 178/99, including identifying legislation adopted to assist high technology and the impact. The special advisor will also elaborated on the details of the budget request for the next biennium and its rationale.
