Expands the scope of the notice requirements to require that all parties make reasonable inquiry as to whether a claimant has received or is receiving medical assistance, and give timely written notice of any claim or action to DHS.

RELATING TO FUNERAL ASSISTANCE PAYMENTS.

Allows the respective county medical examiner or coroner to submit an application for funeral payments under the department's funeral payment program on behalf of an unclaimed corpse more than sixty days after the date of death of the deceased.

RELATING TO RESIDENTIAL LEASEHOLDS.

Places direct responsibility of payment of lessor's costs upon the lessees when an abandonment of eminent domain proceedings by the Housing and Community Development Corporation of Hawaii is due to a lessee's inability, failure, or refusal to comply with statutory provisions or to purchase the leased fee interest condemned.

RELATING TO THE FEE SIMPLE RESIDENTIAL REVOLVING FUND.

Limits the liability of lessees who fail to purchase the leased fee interest from HCDCH to the prorated share of the direct costs of acquisition. Authorizes use of the Fee Simple Residential Revolving Fund for indirect costs.

Provides that fifteen per cent from the taxes collected from the conveyance tax be used for the homeless assistance program under the housing and community development corporation of Hawaii.
