Conference Room 325; State Capitol

AGENDA:

The Committee will hear a presentation from Jane K. Uyehara Co-Principal Investigator, and Susan Kanagawa, Project Manager of GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs)—a new Federal grant program designed to encourage young people from the seventh through twelfth grades to have high academic expectations, stay in school, and to study hard in preparation for a college career. Program services include mentoring, tutoring, curriculum strengthening, professional development, college visits and scholarships.

The key thrust of the program is to establish partnerships among the students, faculties, families, and community organizations. The presenters from the U.H. College of Business Education, the recipients of a five-year ten million dollar GEAR UP grant, will remain for a question and answer session following their presentation.
