RELATING TO PUBLIC SAFETY.

Mandates substance abuse assessment/treatment for offenders under the custody of the Department of Public Safety. Implements a policy shift in addressing non-violent drug possession offenses by requiring mandatory community supervision and treatment in lieu of incarceration. (HB176 HD3)

RELATING TO CORRECTIONAL HEALTH CARE.

Establishes the correctional health care program (Program) within the Department of Public Safety (PSD); exempts the administrator from civil service. Gives physicians already working in the Program under PSD the option of remaining under civil service. (HB702 HD2)

RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY.

Appropriates funds for the department of public safety's drug treatment programs statewide. (HB1076 HD2)

RELATING TO CORRECTIONS.

Requires adult women charged with or convicted of crimes and juvenile females adjudicated for offenses that would be crimes if committed by an adult or who are adjudicated delinquents, to be provided a range and quality of programs substantially equivalent to the range and quality offered to males. Appropriates funds. (HB71 HD3)

RELATING TO CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT.

Amends various child support enforcement provisions for clarification to comply with Section 466 of the Social Security Act; and to streamline the child support enforcement process. (HB526 HD1)
