Appropriates funds to assist the macadamia nut industry.

RELATING TO AGRICULTURE.

Requires the inspection and certification of all fresh imported bananas. Establishes the banana inspection revolving fund to provide inspection services to ascertain and certify the grade, classification, quality, or condition of fresh imported bananas. Appropriates funds to be paid into the banana inspection revolving fund. Requires the department of agriculture to submit a report to the legislature prior to the regular sessions of 2002 and 2003.

RELATING TO IMPORTED AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS.

Imposes a fee on imported macadamia nuts and coffee of $.04 per pound to be paid into a special fund to be administered by the Department of Agriculture for the costs of inspection of imported macadamia nuts and coffee and related enforcement activities, and for marketing of Hawaii grown macadamia nuts and coffee.

RELATING TO AGRICULTURAL INFRASTRUCTURE.

Provides a tax credit of ten percent of the cost of agriculture infrastructure improvements over $200,000 made by the taxpayer for the taxable year in which the improvements were made. Provides a tax credit of ten percent of the cost of construction of a new water storage facility or the reconstruction or improvement of any existing water storage facility paid by the taxpayer for the taxable year in which the water storage facility was constructed, reconstructed, or improved.
