STAND. COM. REP. NO.1584
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2001
RE: S.R. No. 80
Honorable Robert Bunda
President of the Senate
Twenty-First State Legislature
Regular Session of 2001
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Health and Human Services, to which was referred S.R. No. 80 entitled:
"SENATE RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE STATE HEALTH PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT AGENCY TO DEVELOP A HEALTH POLICY GUIDEBOOK,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to request the State Health Planning and Development Agency (SHPDA) to develop a health policy guide book.
Testimony in support of this measure was submitted by SHPDA and its Advisory Councils and Committees, Queen's Development Corporation, Kaiser Permanente, and Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific.
Your Committee finds that focusing on health outcomes is a valuable tool proven useful in the health care market. Your Committee further finds that the Statewide Health Coordination Council, its Plan and Development Committee, and Subarea Health Planning Councils have been working hard to develop the state health services and facilities plan. Your Committee further finds that these committees are currently working on projects that will significantly impact Hawaii's health and are in full support of developing a guidebook for health policy.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Health and Human Services that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of S.R. No. 80 and recommends its adoption.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Health and Human Services,
