Your Committee on Health and Human Services, to which was referred S.R. No. 64 entitled:
"SENATE RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE GOVERNMENT AGENCIES TO INVITE FAITH-BASED ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO THE YOUTHS OF HAWAII,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to request government agencies to invite faith based organizations to provide services to the youth of Hawaii.
Testimony in support of this measure was submitted by Christian Science Committee on Publication for Hawaii and two private citizens. Testimony in opposition to this measure was submitted by Hawaii Youth Services Network. Comments were submitted by Hale Opio Kauai, Inc.
Your Committee finds that this measure can help with the needs of at risk youths in our community. Your Committee further finds that this is an important issue, and would like to explore the possibility for collaboration and cooperation among the public, private, secular, and religious sectors of our community.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Health and Human Services that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of S.R. No. 64 and recommends its adoption.
