, 2001
RE: S.R. No. 15
Honorable Robert Bunda
President of the Senate
Twenty-First State Legislature
Regular Session of 2001
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Water, Land, Energy and Environment, to which was referred S.R. No. 15 entitled:
"SENATE RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE NATURAL ENERGY LABORATORY OF HAWAII AUTHORITY TO REVIVE ITS PROPOSAL FOR THE REACTIVATION OF THE NOI`I O PUNA RESEARCH CENTER,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to request the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority (NELHA) to revive and update its 1992 Reactivation of the Noi`i O Puna Research Center proposal.
Testimony in support of this measure was received from the Department of Health.
Your Committee finds that the development of renewable energy resources continues to be an important component in the State's efforts to reduce its reliance on imported oil. Your Committee finds that this measure offers further information on one such alternative.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Water, Land, Energy and Environment that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of S.R. No. 15 and recommends its adoption.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Water, Land, Energy and Environment,
