STAND. COM. REP. NO. 1317
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2001
RE: S.R. No. 13
Honorable Robert Bunda
President of the Senate
Twenty-First State Legislature
Regular Session of 2001
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Health and Human Services, to which was referred S.R. No. 13 entitled:
"SENATE RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CREATION OF A COORDINATING COMMITTEE TO OVERSEE THE CARE OF MEDICALLY FRAGILE CHILDREN,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to request the creation of a coordinating committee to oversee the care of medically fragile children.
Testimony in support of this measure was submitted by the Department of Education, Department of Health, Department of Human Services, and State Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities.
Your Committee finds that medically fragile children receive complex medical care from many providers and agencies. Your Committee further finds that these medically fragile children are experiencing improved quality of life due to better care, technology, and increased community support services. This measure will ensure, through the establishment of a coordinating committee, that the care of medically fragile children is properly coordinated thus providing maximum benefits from the services received.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Health and Human Services that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of S.R. No. 13 and recommends that it be referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Health and Human Services,
