STAND. COM. REP. NO.781
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2001
RE: S.B. No. 989
S.D. 1
Honorable Robert Bunda
President of the Senate
Twenty-First State Legislature
Regular Session of 2001
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Ways and Means, to which was referred S.B. No. 989, S.D. 1, entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE RELIEF OF CERTAIN PERSONS' CLAIMS AGAINST THE STATE AND PROVIDING APPROPRIATIONS THEREFOR,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to appropriate funds to satisfy claims for legislative relief, judgments against the State, settlements, and miscellaneous claims occurring over the past year.
Your Committee finds that each of the line items contained in this bill, which are primarily settlements and judgments resulting from litigation, have been pursued in good faith by the State and should be funded.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Ways and Means that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of S.B. No. 989, S.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Ways and Means,
