STAND. COM. REP. NO.802
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2001
RE: S.B. No. 813
Honorable Robert Bunda
President of the Senate
Twenty-First State Legislature
Regular Session of 2001
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Ways and Means, to which was referred S.B. No. 813 entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO REPORTS,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to standardize publication and distribution practices for government agency reports.
This bill requires that the reports be available in printed form, and posted either on the agency's web site or elsewhere on the internet.
Your Committee finds that as internet connectivity reaches more homes and offices, it is appropriate to ensure that agency reports are readily available over the internet. This allows the public to obtain these reports with minimal effort and cost, and permits the agencies to print fewer copies. This saves time and effort for the public, and printing and mailing costs for the agencies. It is a win-win scenario for the government and the public.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Ways and Means that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of S.B. No. 813 and recommends that it pass Second Reading and be placed on the calendar for Third Reading.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Ways and Means,
