STAND. COM. REP. NO.690
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2001
RE: S.B. No. 797
Honorable Robert Bunda
President of the Senate
Twenty-First State Legislature
Regular Session of 2001
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Judiciary, to which was referred S.B. No. 797 entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO PUBLIC SERVICE,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to delete outdated references to repealed laws relating to loyalty oaths.
Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Council Chair of Maui County Council and a Council Member of Maui County Council.
Chapter 85, Hawaii Revised Statutes, relating to loyalty, was repealed in 1993. However, certain existing statutes continue to cross reference sections in chapter 85. This measure deletes those cross references.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Judiciary that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of S.B. No. 797 and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Judiciary,
