STAND. COM. REP. NO.876
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2001
RE: S.B. No. 499
S.D. 1
Honorable Robert Bunda
President of the Senate
Twenty-First State Legislature
Regular Session of 2001
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Ways and Means, to which was referred S.B. No. 499, S.D. 1, entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO LEAVE SHARING,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to permit legislative employees to participate in leave sharing plans by donating accumulated vacation to another employee suffering from a serious illness or injury.
This bill would provide authority to the individual houses of the Legislature, the legislative service agencies, or any combination thereof, to establish a leave sharing program. Leave sharing is presently permitted by statute for the executive branch and for each of the counties. Your Committee finds that extending the same opportunity to the legislative branch is appropriate.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Ways and Means that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of S.B. No. 499, S.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Ways and Means,
