STAND. COM. REP. NO.596
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2001
RE: S.B. No. 1453
Honorable Robert Bunda
President of the Senate
Twenty-First State Legislature
Regular Session of 2001
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Transportation, Military Affairs and Government Operations, to which was referred S.B. No. 1453 entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO USE OF INTOXICANTS,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to conform references for driver's education assessment levied for impaired driving from the old DUI law to a provision prohibiting operating a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant effective on January 1, 2002.
Your Committee received testimony in favor of this measure from the Department of Transportation and the Judiciary.
Your Committee finds that this measure corrects a reference that was inadvertently overlooked when the DUI consolidation bill was enacted.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Transportation, Military Affairs and Government Operations that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of S.B. No. 1453 and recommends that it pass Second Reading and be placed on the calendar for Third Reading.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Transportation, Military Affairs and Government Operations,
